Written sources are important when studying Troy and the ancient battle between the Greeks and the Trojans because it tells us what happened. Of course we can't trust that it's not all bias or made up, but when we have a written source, a tangible source, and find evidence to back up what is said, the stories become a lot more of a reality and people start believing. All of the written sources mentioned in this website describe facts and features of the Trojan war and the fight against the Greeks. It is for this reason, why we believe the written sources are quite very important when studying history and especially the Trojan war aspect to it, because it happened so long ago, and if people in history continued the pass the stories down orally, the events would get mixed up and by the time it reached us, it could be an entirely different story. So writing it down helps keep the story straight so we all might be able to get an insight to what might of happened all those years ago.
